Prof. dr hab. Norbert Morciniec

Completed his doctoral studies in 1961 with a dissertation entitled: "Die nominalen Wortzusammensetzungen in den westgermanischen Sprachen" (published in Wrocław, 1964), completed his postdoctoral work in 1986 (postdoctoral dissertation entitled "Distinktive Spracheinheiten im Niederländischen und im Deutschen", published in Wrocław in 1968. he obtained the title of associate professor in 1975, and full professor in 1983. He held a position at the University of Wrocław from 1955 to 2002. Director of German and Dutch Language Unit, in the years 1984 – 1987 he was pro vice-chancellor of The University of Wrocław responsible for academic affairs, founder of Dutch Studies in Wrocław.

Research in the field of German linguistics and history of Dutch literature and language. His academic achievements includes 15 books and over 100 articles published in Polish, German and Dutch magazines. Member of numerous academic societies, Polish Linguistic Society, Neophilological Committee PAN, Association of Polish Germanists, Societas Linguistica Europaea, Royal Academy of Dutch Language and Literature (Belgium), The Academic Council of German Language in Mannheim (Germany), Semestrial or yearly guest lectures at universities in Lipsk (1977), Leuven (1981), Tampere (1985), Vienna (1989, 1992), Munich (1987), Munster (1990), Mainz (1993).
