Dr Piotr Czajka, Profesor WSF

He was born July 11, 1970 in Wrocław. He undertook his studies in English Philology Institute at the University of Wrocław and earned his B.A. degree after three years of study, during which time he also completed courses comprising Pedagogical Preparation College (Studium Przygotowania Pedagogicznego). In 1994, he obtained his M.A. degree after defending his thesis, which he wrote under the supervision of prof. dr hab. Zdzisław Wąsik entitled „Towards a Semiotic Concept of Esthetic Narration” From September of 1994, he has worked as a lecturer of English in Państwowym Pomaturalnym Studium Kształcenia Animatorów Kultury i Bibliotekarzy in Wrocławiu. In October of 1995, he undertook the four-year stationary doctoral studies in the field of bibliology, linguistics, and literary studies in the English Philology Department of the University of Wrocław. As a doctoral student in the English Philology Institute, he conducted practical ESL courses and carried out academic research. From June 3 to June 9 of 1996 he stayed at the University of Copenhagen taking courses for doctoral students entitled "Ph.D. Course in Linguistic Research Traditions of 20th Century", during which he presented a paper entitled: "Evaluative Discourse in Scientific Texts from the Viewpoint of Pragmatics". He completed his doctoral studies in June of 1999 by submitted his doctoral thesis entitled "Dyskurs akademicki w perspektywie aksjologicznej na przykładzie podręczników językoznawstwa" which was written under the supervision of prof. dr hab. Zdzisław Wąsik. The public defense of the doctoral thesis took place on Dec. 7, 1999, on Dec. 14, 1999, by the decision of the Council of the Department of Philology of the University of Wrocław, Piotr Czajka received a Ph.D. in Humanities in the field of linguistics. While a doctoral student on Oct. 10, 1996, he started working in the Foreign Language College Nauczycielskie Kolegium Języków Obcych in Wrocław and is employed there until this day. There, he conducts classes in the history of the English Language and other subjects connected to linguistics. As an instructor in Nauczycielskie Kolegium Języków Obcych we Wrocławiu he took part in Teacher Trainers Course organized by the School of Languages, University of Brighton, which took place in June 27 to July 11 of 1999 in Brighton, UK. After defending his doctoral thesis, he was appointed junior lecturer in The English Language Institute of the University of Wrocław and a year later was appointed lecturer.
