
Dr Maria-Luiza Janikowska, Profesor WSF

Maria – Luiza Janikowska, a Ph.D in Humanistic Studies, has been for many years an academic teacher with experience in secondary schools, postsecondary schools, private language and higher schools. In the last 24 years, she has worked at the University of Wrocław as a senior lecturer of German in Foreign Language College, and later in the Slavistic Institute. From 1960 to 1965, she studies German philology at the University of Wrocław and obtained an M.A. degree with the thesis entitled: "Die Romane von Heinrich Böll" (supervisor prof. M. Szyrocki), and after completing her doctoral studies in the German Philology Institute (1974-76), she defended her doctoral thesis "Problematyka młodzieżowa w prozie NRD" (supervisor prof. A. Stroka).
She has published an article on Henryk Böll, Germanica Wratislaviensia XX, 1974: 237-241 and on youth hero in East German prose of the 70s. "Der neue Held in der Prosa der DDR (Christa Wolf, Ulrich Plenzdorf, Wolfgang Joho, Rolf Schneider, Volker Braun)", Germanica Wratislaviensia XXXVI/ 1980:73-87. Furthermore, she is co-author of a handbook for students of German. "Studenten der Kunstgeschichte übersetzen Fachtexte", Wrocławskiego U. Press 1980.
She has participated in German language courses in Weimar, Berlin, Tybindz and in international conferences for teachers of German in Bern and Budapest.
Dr Maria Janikowska has worked in education for 36 years and has extensive experience as a teacher who has taught many types of practical courses in German and lectures in culture and literature of German-speaking countries. For many years along with her students, she has cooperated with The Goethe Institute Library and the Austrian Library in Wrocław.
