English Philology for Beginners

This program is designed for students who do not know English yet and who want to start learning English from the very beginning. Undergraduate studies (BA or licencjat in Polish) in English Philology will allow you to acquire knowledge and practical skills connected with learning and teaching English as well as other useful professional skills.

Program of studies

The program of studies has been developed on the basis of the expertise of our academic faculty and the latest information technology. The program consists of a specialized thematic module:

  • Practical Language (or PNJA in Polish): develops four major skills: speaking, listening, reading and writing as well as vocabulary and grammar.
  • Culture Studies: this module familiarizes students with the culture and history of German speaking countries. You will learn the history of literature, the history of language, some aspects of European integration, stereotypes, multimedia and many others.
  • Vocational specializations: translation theories, translation exercises, selected specialist translation, foreign language in business and tourism, tour guide courses, IT, didactic methods, psychopedagogy and more. Second foreign language instruction at basic and advanced levels is also offered.
  • General education: history of philosophy, Latin and PE (aerobics, gym, team games)
  • Diploma Seminar: prepares you to write your BA thesis and take your BA exam.
  • Additional subjects, if you choose any.

English Language Program - beginner is available in full-time and part-time modes of study. Specializations available: Language for Business and Tourism, Foreign Language Teaching.

Elective subjects and specialization modules

In order to complete a particular specialization, you have to pass the specialization courses as defined in the curriculum and obtain the appropriate ECTS points assigned to each course. You can also attend other specializations, which will help to make you into a more attractive candidate in the job market.
