Every year we invest more and more in the development of modern technologies in order to provide our students with the latest solutions.
Classrooms and lecture halls are equipped with modern audio-visual equipment and there is free Internet access in the whole building. Two computer rooms with broadband Internet connection are available for the students during and after classes. There is wi-fi in the whole building.
We have implemented e-students' office (or e-dziekanat in Polish) as a means of a fast and effective communication with our students. Thanks to this solution, you are able to handle the majority of student's matters on the Internet. A fully operational e-learning platform was implemented in order to make studying at WSF even more comfortable.
In an effort to provide both students and the academic staff the best conditions to conduct classes, to develop projects and to study, WSF provides the highest quality of equipment in auditoriums and classrooms, including an e-learning platform and computer laboratories.
The Philological School of Higher Education is constantly developing its multimedia and specialist resources, offering students professional software and specialized technological tools.
Two modern computer laboratories equipped with 21 work stations with broadband Internet access and equipped with specialized software ensure that our students have the conditions to develop their ability to use ICT tools in their studies and later in their jobs. Our students have unlimited access to computer laboratories during opening hours.
Moreover, computer laboratories are equipped with modern computer-assisted tools (CAT) such as SDL Trados Studio 2011, SDL MultiTerm 2011, SDL Passolo Essential 2011, memoQ, ApSIC Xbench 2.9, Wordfast Classic and Wordfast Pro.
SDL Trados Studio 2011
We have applied for funds to provide students with access to one of the most modern available software programs - SDL Trados Studio 2011, used in a broad range of translations. This software is used during specialist translation classes in both BA and MA studies.
SDL Trados is an integrated environment, enabling translation teams to jointly use tools for translation, resources and project files. Translation memories can be jointly used via the Internet. This program may also act as a tool for individual users. SDL Trados Studio 2011 is a highly socialized and modern tool, used only by several higher education institutions in Poland, and the Philological School of Higher Education is one of them.
As part of the Academic Program we have developed a working relationship with Kilgray Translation Technologies and now hold a license (also for household use) for one of the most modern translation assistance systems. The Academic Program is aimed mainly at people training to become translators. Thanks to the availability of this program, students learn how to use programs used on a daily basis in professional translation agencies.
Our students can also work with the following specialized programs: ApSIC Xbench 2.9, Wordfast Classic and Wordfast Pro.
